35-Year-Old Brandon McCrary Killed in Union City Auto-Pedestrian Crash on Lester Road
Union City, Georgia (January 9, 2020) – An employee was killed in an auto-pedestrian crash Monday morning in Union City, according to a local news source.
The crash happened at about 10:35 a.m., January 7, on Lester Road.
Police said Brandon McCrary, 35, was picking up trash when a northbound charcoal colored Dodge Challenger driven by Joel John, Jr., 27, of Fairburn, swerved off the roadway and hit him and a guard rail before fleeing the scene.
McCrary was killed in the crash.
John was later arrested and charged with hit-and-run and homicide by vehicle 1st degree. He is also facing other charges including; tampering with evidence, driving while unlicensed, failure to report an accident and failure to maintain a lane. He is currently being held at the Fulton County Jail.
The crash remains under investigation.
