35-Year-Old Man Killed in Union City Auto-Pedestrian Crash on Lester Road
Union City, Georgia (January 9, 2020) – A 35-year-old man was killed in an auto-pedestrian crash Monday morning in Union City, according to a local news source.
The crash happened at about 10:35 a.m., January 7, on Lester Road.
Police said a Union City employee was picking up trash when a northbound charcoal colored Dodge Challenger driven by a 27-year-old, swerved off the roadway and hit him and a guard rail before fleeing the scene.
The employee was killed in the crash.
The driver was later arrested and charged with hit-and-run and homicide by vehicle 1st degree. He is also facing other charges including; tampering with evidence, driving while unlicensed, failure to report an accident and failure to maintain a lane
He is currently being held in the Fulton County Jail.
The crash remains under investigation.
